Welcome to the Homesource Forums!

(updated July 1, 2011)

This forum is open to anybody who wishes to comment on compiling, modifying, and running the source code to the game HOMEWORLD... and even if you aren't involved with the actual coding we welcome your comments on what we're doing.

Spam prevention: I'm now using a Question & Answer captcha. The questions should be fairly easy for people who liked Homeworld but if anyone has any problems please email me at:

Forum self-registration has been reactivated because I screwed up some mail settings and people who went to the trouble of emailing me had their mail siting on the disk for months unretrieved.

My apologies to those people, and you can now register through the standard forum interface while I try to find a solution to the bots and spam.

Something still needs to be done, as the bots are worse than ever, but next time I will make sure the solution is tested thoroughly before implementation and that it is easy to use for all parties. Except the bots :)

As noted in the top post above I found a Q&A captcha alredy built into phpBB... activating it was not particularly obvious nor was it intuitive and it would have saved a lot trouble if I'd noticed it sooner.

For others who are interested here's info from the phpBB site:

Quote:
To enable the Q&A CAPTCHA, browse to Spambot countermeasures on the General tab of the ACP, then select "Q&A" under "Installed Plugins". Select "Configure", setup your question and answer pairs, then submit the forum.

FYI, the answer to the question is Taiidan, and it doesn't work. For some reason the Captcha takes "Taidan" as the correct answer.
