We are testing Mantis now, so a new topic...

http://homesource.nekomimicon.net/tenodera/

As a first case I reported that old muzzle flash bug Niece noted a while back.

What did I err in reporting, what would have been better?

Now is the time and this (and the related bug report placed in the bugs forum) are the places to hash out how this tool should be used... and the planning and results of testing those concepts.

Have at it. I will add tracker reporting access etc upon request from coders.

I've added a new caregory to the Homeworld SDL project in Mantis tracker: "Wishlist".
That brings the number of categories up to 7, and I want to distinguish between "To Do" and "Wishlist"

Development
Gameplay
Graphics
Sound
To Do (Things that need to be done sometime)
Tools
Wishlist (Things that might be done sometime)

"Wishlist" because lmop posted up several issues that were actually part of the original game and were left in even in the final patch.... whether from gameplay concerns or graphics limitation.

"Wishlist" will be for noting where something like graphics can be improved or where someone would like to add the ability to tweak something that was untweakable before... but was deliberately left in the original game.

This would not be the same as when lmop fixed captured ships using the wrong door, or if we ever track down that bug that makes ships take off for the edge of the map without permission...

After having my brain start accidentally due to a sneezing fit I realized this was an error, and that 'Wishlist" should be a sub-project instead. That way it can have it's own categories of gameplay, sound, graphics etc.

And if Mantis brings its Project Management module into the stable branch (it's currently in svn ) we can have a head-start on the roadmap etc... assuming we don't use another management app.

Thoughts? If no objections I'll do this tonight.

Errata...

Note for lmop: seems that the p1 ion frigates still retire to the wrong door. hmmm...

I changed the Mantis file attachments from db-based to server-based so folks could upload larger attachments without thrashing the db.

(As for why the change... I asked Niece to look at lmop's various "green scenes" and she noted that the images lmop uploaded were rather small. :) )

But it seems that the attachments that were already upped to the db are now AWOL.... even though they're still taking up space in the db. So it looks like we'll have to delete the old attachments and re-up them. Sorry... :/

Some small suggestions:

1) change the "Affects [platform]" pop-up menu selections to:

Yes
No
Unknown
Fixed

The different word lengths and initial letters make them easier to identify.

2) add "unknown" as the default option for "In original game"

3) remove the "* required" nature for "svn revision" (most of the bugs I've submitted can't be tied to any particular revision)

--------

Images reuploaded. They're small as they were designed for in-line usage in the MacHomeworld Bug Reports forum and only needed to show the problem, rather than being suitable for a wallpaper. :D I'll see if I have the originals floating around somewhere and upload larger versions.

Done.

Hmmm... I'd really like to keep a warning flag before others to include revisions etc, and the "n/a" you've been putting in such cases seems to do fine. I did change the text to add "when first noticed"... does this help?

"Bugs Of Homeworld: The Swimsuit Edition!"

That's cool... I just thought that if my "visual enablers" thought the pics were a bit small it'd be an idea to suggest that larger pics are okay...

Going to be rewriting this thread as a stickied FAQ including all the changes mentioned here and in the Bug 0000000000000000001 thread.

Also will be retroactively sticking a header of format [bug #nn] in front of the subject of forum posts that turn out to be about bugs that are already in the tracker.

Please use the same subject line format when you post about a bug that's known to be in the tracker.

Added two new fields as an option:

gcc version used

system type: 64 bit or 32 bit

... might be helpful... maybe.

I'm fine with just reporter atm. Should probably make it possible to create reporter accounts by myself...
