I hope to get the Subversion server updated early next week to version 1.4.3. This will require an outage which might be prolonged because I won't be performing the upgrade myself. You won't need to upgrade your Subversion client installations because of this, although there are some features in the 1.4.* series that might make you want to anyway. In particular, I can't wait to get my hands on:

- "huge working-copy performance improvements"
- "handful of new command switches" (in particular svn diff -c <revision>. No more svn diff -r<revision - 1>:<revision> !)

It's caught me a little off-guard but this is happening "now".

Well, I got the usual commit email about r552 but I can't update here... it's that "connection refused" thing again ;)

Did they change the ports while they were at it?

No, the server is still turned off. The "now" I was informed about has yet to actually occur. Since I want to ensure my backup is current, I'm leaving the server turned off until they actually do the upgrade, which should be "soon"... Sorry for the delay.

No problem, just checking. Meanwhile I'm having fun spending my time between chipping away at RGL and looking at a peculiar bug that's turned up in r548: the game crashes because it seems to be holding on to previous savegame states... even after quitting to the menu...

... more later as I figure it out the triggering parameters. Should we start putting this and the other r548 savegame stuff in the tracker now?

This didn't get done and from the sounds of it won't happen for a while either so:

good news: the server is up and running again now
bad news: we have to go through the same hassle later on - sorry

Sorry for the short notice but my host is doing a machine upgrade and so I have to turn the server off now. I'll let you all know when it's back up.

Darn it, you beat me to my update! Yes the server is still down. I'm working with the sysadmin to fix some outstanding issues with the host changing (software installations; possible firewall issues). Once these are fixed - hopefully soon - I'll get the server back up and running. Sorry for the delay.

The Subversion server is now back up.

Sorry for the extended outage; there were some hiccups with the software installation on the new server. The server is a lot faster than the old one though - my jaw dropped when I saw how fast it recreated the repository from the backup! :) Let me know if you encounter any problems.
