... ... ... after some polite nudging by Azurief I'm wondering if we're due for another one....

... and if we're ready too add a "network enabled" binary to the next batch?

Hi.

Yes, I'd say that the SDL libs for the network stack are part of the normal SDL libs, so I'd only release a network binary. (I believe, and I'm prepared to be proven wrong :) )

It'd also be a good way of putting some testing through the network code.

Well...hum... :D
In fact, SDL_net is an additional library that need to be install but depends on SDL, so well, if we want to deliver a package with libs included, we will have to include it.

Finally, yes, I think a new release with network activated could be a very good idea, I just need to patch a little bit the network stack, to resolve a minor segfault (well, not cleaning particularly well the stack). I would say after the weekend, it will be okay if we want to make a release. :)

Also, we will have make sure that people know, some features are missing (the chat mainly) and it's a first version, that they will be testing it, as aunxx mentionned it!! :)

Well, for the Network Stack, I think it's almost ready for a new binary.
I'm planning to implement some missing message not handled.

After that, the two next big things to do is add support of the chat, and enable network on the internet.

Concerning this last point, I'm planning to add a new sub-menu when clicking on Internet game. It would give the choice between Won game, which will not be enabled and Peer-to-Peer game, where there will be a choice between hosting a game or connecting to a hosted game. Connection to a hosted game will simply consist of putting the IP address of the host game. Then we would fall on Menu similar to the lan one when we have join a game, except that there will be no General chat, only one chat for the game.

Hope the explanation is clear. :)
