What is the point of gldefines.h and gldll.[hc]? Why do we have them instead of just including <GL/gl.h> and linking to libGL normally? Is the latter for some reason difficult on some platform?

Even better is
Code:
#include <SDL/SDL_opengl.h>

which is just a wrapper around the OS-specific location for gl.h anyway, as well as adding a number of OpenGL defines. (Your commit for r630 could be
Code:
glDrawPixels (w,h, GL_BGRA, GL_UNSIGNED_INT_8_8_8_8_REV, pFrameRGB->data[0]);
instead...)

gldefines.h, gldll.[hc] originate from the original source code. As you point out there's no good reason for them being there any more - Hornpipe2's solution makes sense.
