While I'm thinking of HW-SDL, it seems rto be a generally applicable question.

Games have often had third-party launchers writen for them in the past. Small apps that would enable you to set various game options using a GUI and then launch the game. The options could be either normal command-line options native to the game, or settings for properties and abilities the game creators had not thought about (or even dreamed of) when the game was written. Of course the older the game the more likely that third-party launchers were written for it. Doom, Duke Nukem 3D and other Build Engine games, Quake... but even Battlezone had the Battlezone Control Panel.

And Homeworld will probably need one too, at least for testig purposes whie new gameplay concepts are worked up.

So... just for general discussion... what was your favorite third-party front end? Why? And what properties specific to Homeworld (now or future) should such a front end have?

Hi.
I've only ever used one front end which was for scp, and I'm afraid I just took the config options and put them into a shell script and called that.

Not much help I'm afraid. :(

I used one for Doom a while back. I don't remember any specifics though.
